The Power of ‘The Heart Check’ to Reconnect, Play, and Transform Relationships in Life and Business

The Power of ‘The Heart Check’ to Reconnect, Play, and Transform Relationships in Life and Business

You truly are a child at heart. 💥

Yesterday, my youngest son asked me to play cops and robbers in my back yard.

I was busy with other “grown up” chores tasks and things.

But before responding I do what I call

“The Heart Check” ✅

I pause and check inside my heart if it is a yes or a no.

You know the longest journey of everyone’s life is simply from your mind to your heart. Keeping the connectedness to your heart is a wonderful rule you can incorporate daily which I try to do.

So I said, “ okay ☺️

He handed me one of his plastic revolvers loaded with pop ring caps to make it more fun and sound realistic, and I set out to our backyard.

We have a shed and I began my strategy to hide behind it.

I crouched down while I listened to his cute voice nearing the end of his 20 count which gave me my lead way head start.

I thought to myself, “This is fun. ☺️

I saw his approach to one side of the shed and immediately thought to turn each corner ahead of his next turn so he never finds me,

All while holding the plastic gun playing the part very well acting like a fugitive.

Careful to be quiet, I felt the excitement brew omg I am so smart, he will think behind the shed is clear then move on to search other places.

Lol!

All of a sudden he surprised me from the other side and POP! 💥

Lol!

So much fun I started taking cover back behind the shed and shooting back while peeking 👀

Soon we both ran out of shots on the ring cap and we were both cracking up!

I saw a video recently about a top executive agreeing to have an important merger meeting with another top executive who chose a rather odd location for the meeting.

It was a beach area that had 6 trampolines low to the ground with sand dug out for the expansion of the floor as people jumped.

He asked the other executive who was pretty over weight to take off his shoes and that he doesn’t agree to discuss business until after they have some fun jumping on the trampoline.

He refused and became uncomfortable as he was in a suit and tie with fancy shoes.

NO, was his firm answer.

After some coaxing, he took off his shoes and started carefully bouncing.

They both created a rhythm of one executive bouncing up and the other was already on the bounce down.

They began to laugh and jump higher and higher on their own trampoline. The over weight executive was giggling like a kid and just like that, they bonded as kids.

This video reminded me about my technique “The Heart Check ✅” simply taking a pause and checking in with our heart. This corridor can sometimes lead to the kid inside.

There is nothing real except this very moment. 💥
